TEEN DRAMA: THE ART OF COMEDY

NEW CLASS TIME: Sundays, 6-7pm, Playing Field Studio, 2 Kingsley St, Acton.
AGE RANGE: 13-17 (confident 12 year olds accepted)

Classes begin Sunday of Week 2, Term 3
Final performance will be Week 10 of Term 3 at the Canberra Theatre Centre
FINAL FREE COMEDY SHOW: Monday 24 September 5.15pm in the 92 seat Courtyard Theatre - bring as many family and friends as you like!
Classes: Playing Field Studio, corner of Barry Drive & Kingsley St, Acton

Prerequisite: students enrolling in this course require prior experience in drama. 

In this eight week course for teens, students will

  • learn scripted sketches and stand-up routines

  • create their own sketches and stand-up routines

  • develop a comedy show for family and friends

  • The course will end with a free public performance of a comedy show

Tutor: Kirsty Budding. Kirsty lives and works in Canberra as a theatre producer and teacher. She has been shortlisted for the Sydney Theatre Company Young Playwright’s Award (2008) and has won the Canberra New Playwright’s Award (2008); the Canberra Area Theatre Award for Best Original Work (2014); and the Short+Sweet Festival Best Script Award (2016). More recently, Kirsty was a semi-finalist in the 2017 ScreenCraft Short Screenplay Contest, Los Angeles. Kirsty’s playwriting appears in The Voices Project: Encore Edition (2015) published by Currency Press, Sydney and her anthology of monologues Paper Cuts: Comedic and Satirical Monologues for Audition or Performance (2017) is published by Blemish Books, Canberra. Kirsty has produced and directed a range of youth and adult productions and especially enjoys working with teens who love acting and all things theatre.
